When I was about 8 or 9 years old, my Dad presented to me a very small bi-plane model kit. He explained that we were going to make this model kit together. It was my first model kit.
We made it in one afternoon, and put the decals on it. We did not paint it.
It is a very fond memory of mine.
I have been going through my storage of toys and models from when I was a kid. I have not yet found it.
From looking on Google in this past week, I think it may have been a model of a Sopwith Pup. As a tribute to the first model kit I was given, and as a ‘tip of the hat’ to the model kit I made with my Dad, I will buy the Airfix 1Sopwith Pup/ 72 model kit and build it at some point.
I searched YouTube for “Airfix 1Sopwith Pup/ 72 Model’ to view other people’s builds. Amongst them I found this 3-part video build by Red Dragon ModelWerks (see below). It is great!
PS. Off topic: I decided to check out International Scale Modeller as well. While there I found this thread about people’s stashes.
